Train Derailment in Providence

Here’s a new wrinkle into my dreadful morning commute into Providence, RI… A train derailment! Yup, you read it right. A train carrying 30,000 gallons of highly combustable ethanol jumped the tracks this morning (3/8/17) at 1:30am.
The tanker car, which was one of approximately 60 cars that were on route to Worcester, MA, jumped the track, slid down an embankment, went through a chainlink fence and came to rest in the middle of US 1-A (Allens Ave) in Providence.

Authorities say that there were no leaks and the EPA is on hand as a precaution.  This main route into Downtown Providence will be closed all day as authorities are waiting on heavy equipment from New York to place the car back on the tracks.
