Alicia is our three year-old Black Lab mix. She is the sweetest thing that you would ever want to meet. Very smart and always there to cheer you up when you’ve had a bad day.
Alicia also has some quirks about her. She is a Black Lab, but terrified of water, except for the lawn sprinkler. She will spend hours chasing the water back and forth in the backyard until she is soaked to the bone. If the lawn is being watered, she will whine at the back door until someone lets her out so that she can protect her territory from that nasty sprinkler.
Alicia also loves the New England Patriots… I know you’re thinking that I am nuts. But when the game is put on the TV, she will hop up onto my lap and WATCH the game. I am not kidding. When I start to cheer about a play, she will climb up on me and start licking my face, almost like she is cheering with me.
She is a very athletic dog and loves to catch ANYTHING (sticks, balls, ice cubes, ANYTHING)… She is very good at it. I can throw a tennis ball straight at her from about 3 feet and she will catch it every time.
We adopted Alicia in January of 2012 after the loss of Tyson (a PitBull, Boxer mix) passed away at 12 years old. Alicia stepped in and helped mend the hearts of my daughters, wife and myself. Instantly becoming part of the family and bonding for some reason with me. Although Alicia will never replace Tyson, I think that he would be happy that she came into our lives and into our home.
Alicia has been a wonderful addition to our family and I am very happy that we made the decision to adopt her.
